Beastmen

A tide of feral fury, born from chaos to devour civilization.

The Beastmen are a chaotic race of half-beast, half-human monstrosities that dwell in the darkest corners of the Old World and beyond. Born from the corrupting influence of Chaos, they serve as the vanguard of destruction for their dark god, Khorne, though some tribes revere other powers or follow no master but their own primal instincts. They are a constant threat to civilization, roaming the wilderness to raid settlements, sacrifice captives, and spread terror wherever they tread. Unlike organized empires, Beastmen society is fragmented into warring herds led by powerful Horned Ones. Their culture is devoid of long-term planning or technology, relying instead on overwhelming numbers, ferocious strength, and the dark magic of their shamans to crush opposition. They represent the raw, untamed fury of the world's wild places, a reminder that civilization is fragile against the encroaching darkness.

Lore & Background

Legend suggests the Beastmen were once human or perhaps even ancient forest spirits twisted by the whispers of the Chaos Gods. Over millennia, their bodies mutated into grotesque amalgamations of bestial features and humanoid intelligence. They possess no written history, only oral traditions that glorify strength, bloodshed, and the favor of the Dark Gods. Their existence is a cycle of migration and slaughter; when a herd grows too large or resources dwindle, they simply move on to the next settlement, leaving nothing but ash in their wake. The hierarchy within a herd is strictly enforced by might. The most powerful warriors rise to become Horned Ones, wielding great weapons and commanding legions of Minotaurs, Centigors, and Gors. Magic is present but raw, channeled through Wild Gods or Bloodthirsters who twist the very air with dark sorcery. To a Beastman, there is no concept of mercy or diplomacy; a creature that cannot fight is merely food or a sacrifice for their altars.

In Their Own Story

The moon hung low and blood-red over the Wealden Woods as the ground began to tremble. From the treeline emerged not an army, but a storm of fur, horn, and muscle. The air grew thick with the stench of wet dog and old iron. A young Ranger, clutching his bow, saw the eyes of a Minotaur gleaming in the dark—eyes that held no humanity, only the hunger for slaughter. As the first arrow flew, it was swallowed by the roar of a thousand throats. The Beastmen did not march; they poured forth like a river of death, their horns clashing against shields, their war cries drowning out the screams of the dying village below.

Reader's Guide

The Beastmen originate from the chaotic corruption of the wilderness, evolving into a race dedicated to destruction and the worship of Khorne. Their armies are defined by sheer brutality and shock tactics rather than discipline or strategy. Their core roster includes the Gor Herd as basic infantry, supported by the terrifying Minotaurs who serve as heavy cavalry or elite melee units. Centigors act as skirmishers with high mobility, while Bestigor Chariots provide fast-moving anti-infantry strikes. Magic is represented by Wild Gods and Bloodthirsters who buff allies or debilitate enemies. Unique hero classes include the Gor Herdmaster, a charismatic leader capable of rallying troops, and the Minotaur Lord, a powerful duelist who can turn the tide in single combat. Their campaign abilities focus on movement bonuses through forests and badlands, as well as abilities that increase morale and ferocity during battles. In the grand strategy game, players must constantly manage their herd's aggression levels to prevent internal strife while expanding into new territories to sustain their endless appetite for war.
